How MapSculpt works

MapSculpt is a browser-based map editor. Map colors, titles, legends and annotation positions are edited in your browser. PNG exports are also generated in your browser; the application does not upload the finished map to an export service.

Privacy preferences

The site stores a small first-party preference in local storage containing your Google Analytics choice, a consent version and the time the choice was updated. This is used to remember your selection. You can change it at any time through the Privacy settings control.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics is disabled by default. Its script is not loaded until you explicitly accept it. If enabled, MapSculpt sends page views and predefined product interactions such as using editor tools, applying a map group or exporting a map. Google Analytics may also process approximate location, browser and device information, and session statistics as part of the service.

MapSculpt does not include your map title, legend text, exported image or other user-authored map content in Google Analytics events. Event-data retention and user-data retention for this Google Analytics property are both configured to 14 months.

Withdrawing consent disables future Google Analytics data collection byMapSculpt.

Vercel hosting and operational telemetry

MapSculpt is hosted on Vercel. Vercel receives the request information needed to deliver and protect the site. The application also uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to measure site usage and performance. These services remain independent from the optional Google Analytics preference.

A browser-specific Web Analytics opt-out is also supported by storing the local-storage key va-disable. Speed Insights is not controlled by that key.

Fonts and external resources

Interface fonts are served by the application itself alongside other site assets.

Your choices and rights

You can reject Google Analytics and continue using the full map editor. You can later grant or withdraw that choice through Privacy settings. Depending on where you live, applicable data-protection law may also provide rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and complaint to a supervisory authority.
